DO IT YOURSELF FLOWER ACCENTS

Stamp Blooms on Transparencies

Use an abstract flower-shape foam stamp and acrylic paint to give a layout spring flavor. Alison stamped the flowers on the textured side of a transparency, allowed them to dry, and cut them out. She attached some to the layout with adhesive foam for dimension, layering them atop and beneath other page elements.

DRAW A PAPER PATTERN

To give freehand flowers a uniform look, practice your shape on scratch paper first. When you're happy with your design, cut it out and use it to trace the image onto the backs of several coordinating patterned papers. Shannon finished her flowers with buttons tied on with ribbon.

RECYCLED PAPER

Ephemera, or found paper goodies, can be just as pretty as your favorite patterned paper. Patricia gave her losing lottery tickets new life by cutting them into flower shapes that bloom across her page. Because most ephemera are not acid-free, spray them with archival mist before using.

CLUSTERED RIBBON STRIPS

Soften metal flowers with strips of colorful ribbon. Shannon arranged several 1-1/2" pieces of colorful ribbon in pinwheel patterns and secured them to the flowers with coordinating brads. She used a green watercolor pencil to draw the stems and leaves inspired by her patterned-paper designs.

If you're not sure how to incorporate a busy patterned paper into a clean, simple layout, try trimming a few bold designs from the paper and add them to your page. Jennifer also cut elements from word-print paper and a coordinating pattern to create the green collage in the lower right corner of the page.

SPIRAL PUNCHED CIRCLES

Spiral Punched Circles

Whip out your circle punches to craft simple, graphic flowers. Polly created her flowers by spiraling five punched circles of patterned paper, machine-stitching along the edges for texture, and tying a button in the center of each. For fuller flowers, layer more circles and vary the sizes.

Doodle Flowers

Kelli created a layered design of doodled flowers by starting with a circle. She drew some of her spirals directly on the background and others on scraps of cardstock and then punched out the pieces before mounting them with adhesive foam. She doodled the leaves on vellum and stitched them to the layout to add more texture to the page.

MAKE PRETTTY ROSETTES OUT OF PAPER STRIPES

Shannon turned paper fans into pretty rosettes for her baby scrapbook page. To create a rosette, accordion-fold patterned-paper strips, making each fold about 1/2" wide. Adhere the ends of the strip to form a circle and, in preparation, apply dry adhesive where you'll place the flower on your page. Cup the rosette in your hands, push the center together, and press onto the adhesive. Add crafts glue to reinforce the center and outer edges if necessary.

To get the grouped look on Shannon's page, overlap the rosettes by interlocking the accordion folds. This groups the flowers without adding height.

Do it Yourself Flowers

Vicki turned coffee filters into creative flower accents on this layout. To get the look, fold a coffee filter in half and spray it with dye. Let it dry, then pleat the filter to create a floral look. Accent it with a paper stem. In a hurry? Use a heat tool to quickly dry dyed filters.

TAG IN A BAG

I want to amend the post below, the "album" is tags in bags, these cute little tags and bags can be purchased thru "Hot of the Press" or you may be able to pick them up at a craft store like Michaels or Joanne's, or you can purchase small flat bags similar to these and make your own tags or buy them seperatly.

MOTHER'S DAY TAG ALBUM

This cute album is made with pattern papers and emblishments from "Hot Off The Press" This would make a wonderful gift any mother would love to receive, you can also modify it to be a father's day gift album, or for a special friend or sister, this can be used for any occcasion. This was designed by LeNae Gerig from "Hot Off The Press".

BIRTHDAY TAG WITH HOLDER

This Birthday Tag with Holder is attched to a Bag (no card needed, the Tag is the Birthday card, cool! :0)), you can't see this is the picture but the tag slide's open side ways to have a birthday message inside, (it is 2 pieces, very cool!), this project was made by LeNae Gerig from "Hot Off The Press".

Making a tag book is so easy, using pattern papers and emblishements that match, this make's a Great Gift. The Tag Template was used to make the tag patterns for this project. (This project was made by Teresa Welch, a Paper Wishes designer)

Treasure Chest and Card

A friend from work asked me to make a card that would match her "treasure chest" that she bought for her mother-in-law's 80th suprise birthday bash, my friend bought a purple scarf and some "Jewels" to dress up the "treasure chest",she is going to use for all the "cash" gifts given at the birthday party instead of a "money tree", which I thought was a wonderful Idea. She wanted the card to be a pirate themed card to go with treasure chest, so I made this cute card for her Chest and she loved it, just thought I would share with all of you :)

These are some cute cards I made for Allyce's Birthday that I am putting in her notecard box (see below photos) that I "altered" to coordinate with the box I bought at TJMax as a gift/storeage box for her card making treasures.

Allyce's Birthday Gift

I bought this larger box (top photo)at TJMax for Allyce's (my granddaughter's) 12th birthday as a gift/storeage box for her card making supplies that I bought her, she has taken an interest in scrapbooking and card making, I bought the smaller box to "alter" (middle photos)to coordinate with the bigger box, this I made as a notecard box so that Allyce could put her notecards and treasures in, I used scrapbook paper in black and white, glued a pink ribbon on as well, I made a "stacked" paper flower with the same scrapbook paper and a daisy punch and "stacked" with dimensionals in between, I finished flower off with a small pink "sticker" flower and added a small pearl, (isn't that a mouth full :0)) I really enjoyed making the note card box to (kind of) match, and the bottom photo show's some of the emblishments that I bought for Allyce's card making fun.

Soccer!

This double page layout show's my granddaughter's love of Soccer, and some of her soccer friends, this was taken a few years ago, but she still love's soccer, she's been playing since she was 6 or 7 years old, and this year she was invited to play in a couple of traveling Soccers Teams, she has become quite skilled :). Enjoy the layouts. Soccer themed stickers and computer journaling was used on this page.
